well you only have to wait till October when the chestnuts come in season but you can always use it to strain your potatoes

Aaah.....memories now of the childhood picnics, when we carried a Primus stove in a large biscuit tin. .....No car then, either. Those were the days........ Gwyn

Gwyn Do not try barbecuing sausages in the pan over a gas cooker unless you are doing it for a fire fighting demonstration. However ... if you have a five gallon drum with its top missing put pan on top with drum filled with screwed up newspapers. Fat from bangers drips on to papers and sausages cook. They ar eno more 'smokey' taste than from an ordinary BBQ. Now the picnic idea is good. Take the pan with you and forget to bring it back. Problem over storage space solved!

Thanks for the warning Clive....but you have given me an idea. I could give it to firefighter son to take to demonstrations... .....all in the name of public safety you understand, ..but his sister wouldn't be too happy. Gwyn ...looking for spare 5 gallon drum

Hi Gwyneth Sounds a bit like the thing I saw in one of the Sunday papers a couple of weeks ago to use in a wok when making noodle broth (I'm sure you, like me, are always making noodle broth!) Put broth in wok and bring to steady boil. Put prawns or chicken strips on 'useful implement' and stand there like lemon until cooked. Cheers Sheila

Just given me an idea Clive, saying instrument. If you hve a hole to hang the holey thing up by......then thread some cat gut through this hole and attach the gut to the different holes in the holey pan.......make sure they are at different tensions...... Find a piano and get the key of C.......tune your different cat gut strings to different keys..... Music to play at your barbecue......

You could always have a game of tennis usng it to whack chesnuts. Marion
