Some good news about someone who had been missing:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/6984776.stm

A 76-year-old woman who had been given up for dead after being lost in the Oregon mountains for two weeks has been found alive and well.
Doris Anderson was on an elk hunting trip with her husband Harold when their truck broke down on 24 August. Though miles from civilisation, the pair tried to walk to safety, but became separated in the woods.

Rescuers had searched the region just south of the Eagle Cap Wilderness Area before but two officers from Baker County Sheriff's department had returned in the hope of finding some trace.
They were alerted to some activity by the sound of ravens in a deep canyon, and when they followed the noise they came across Mrs Anderson, who had suffered a hip injury, but was conscious and alert. "They actually could hear her talking to herself at the time which drew their attention to her and happened to walk right up on her as she was laying beside a creek," Baker County Sheriff Mitch Southwick said. She was dehydrated, but had sustained herself with water from the creek.

Mrs Anderson was dressed lightly, but managed to survive night-time temperatures of nearly 0C with just a touch of frostbite on her toes, which will not require surgery. Doctors treating Mrs Anderson at St Elizabeth Health Services in Baker City say she is remarkably well considering her ordeal.

I understand that Madeleine's parents, with their two younger children, have returned to the UK, with the consent of the Portugese police, and have asked for their privacy to be respected. I do hope that the media and others will adhere to this. Otherwise, life for them and for their twins will be unthinkable, in my opinion.

Still thinking and praying for Madeleine.

Thinking right now of Rosemary Edwards, age 15, missing from her home in Hampshire, since last Tuesday after a family disagreement. She has never left home before. Police are becoming extremely concerned for her welfare.

Still thinking of Madeleine, her family, and of all those with loved ones who are missing.

Looking at the missing persons helpline site it's really sad. So many cases. Im struck by the large amount of young Chinese girls coming into the country then disappearing, I wonder if the police are investigating this. Most speak little or no English, and disappear within days of arriving.

I forgot to post this about Rosemary Edwards

Supt Barry Talbot said: "We are growing increasingly concerned for this young girl as there has been no contact from her at all since Tuesday evening.
What we really need is the public to support us in trying to trace Rosemary, particularly anyone who has seen anyone matching her description in the wider area of the New Forest. "The A326 is a busy main road used by tanker drivers and staff at the Fawley Oil Refinery. "We would especially appeal to them to contact us if they saw anything, no matter how insignificant it may appear."
Rosemary appears to look older than 15. She is white, 5ft 9in (1.75m) tall with a slim build. She is thought to have been wearing blue jeans, a horizontally striped pattern top with turquoise and light blue stripes and blue ankle shoes with a white flower pattern. Her dark blonde hair falls to about four inches above her waist and is either worn loose or in a loose braid.

Rosemary Edwards left home without her mobile and without any money.

Her father, Robert Edwards, an electronics consultant, said: "Rosemary, please come home. You haven't done anything wrong. We all love and miss you terribly. We are a family of five and the four of us here need you back with us. Our hearts are breaking. Please come home. We love you so much."
Reading from a statement, he added: "Rosemary is a confident, beautiful and talented young girl whose love of horses takes up most of her free time. She has many friends and is loved and greatly missed by so many people."

Prayers and thoughts are with Maddie, Rose and their families today. Also for all children, those who have been taken and those who lived in fear so felt they had no option but to run away. May they all soon be with people who love and care for them.
