Hello Island, and any others who are crocheting.

I have been in to Derby today to stock up on crafting provisions, not food, LOL, and bought another crochet hook in a different size to the ones I have got.
I noticed when putting it away with my other hooks, that they are now making them about 1/4 to 1/2 inch shorter. I hope they nestle in the hand as snug as before. No sign of the newer type with the spotted handles on like the one used by Lucy on Attic24.

Now I have to pack everything away. Next week I am hoping to go again for fabrics, as I fancy having a go at Patchwork again.

Ah thank you Island, I think trying to keep it neat makes me pull the thread too tight. Also trying to control the 'feed' of wool which I assume comes with practice.

Practice chains Ann, maybe you are pulling the yarn too tight.

Try using a larger hook for the foundation chain.

Much better to have a slack chain as it is easy enough to work along it later by pulling each loop a little until you have a satisfactory tension.

Grrr! the number of times I have worked a chain and done half a row of crochet (half treble) and pulled it out again. Anyone know how to not have the foundation chain too tight so that you can't get the hook in? :-(

Thanks Moonbi I will look out for one of those then. :-)

If a normal sized glass headed pin is too small,
maybe what you could try is a quilters pin. they are thicker, and longer and have a larger glass head.

I use then for pinning my quilt sandwich before i tack the layers together.

It might if I could find a thicker than usual one as the nozzle is a bit bigger than usual. Will have to look out for one, thanks.

Would one of those pins with a small ball on the end do. That is what I use.

Just reading a craft mag and wondered. Does anyone else have a problem sorting out what exactly is vintage style paper?

I see on this page - 10 of the best vintage style papers - that it seems to cover almost every pattern under the sun from floral to stripes to newsprint. So it seems anything goes!

It might be moonbi if I shaved a bit off but being wooden might have the same problem as a cocktail stick. It might stick. at the moment I have a plastic covered paper clip (unwound) in there so will see how that goes.

would a match stick be suitable to use in the glue nozzle ?

Thanks for that Von, the hole is a bit large for a pin though I think. I have got a wooden pick in there at the moment but I need to make sure it doesn't stick in the hole which would rather defeat the object :-D

Sorry i hadn't been back to bog.
I'm not sure what I will use the cloth for as yet as usually I use these pieces as a base and print on them which changes the look.
I don't feel like doing that to this piece. I did think about using some for a necklace so at present it's sitting on my table waiting for me to make up my mind. :-) :-) :-)

As to your glue I sometimes leave one of those long pins with a bead on the end in the nozzle when I have finished using it.
Seems to work.

Thanks for that Jean :-D But I like the glue and it lasts ages if I can only keep it unclogged. It dries clear so is very useful. Use it a lot in scrap booking, when I am not using double sided tape which is my preferred methos. Have also got a sticky glue pen (Stick it) but that dries up very quickly.

Try Thick darning needle or change your glue :-D :-D :-D
