If you buy the death certificate that I posted then you might have your problem solved.

Gee Report 29 Jul 2011 21:36

Ive found what I think to be the marriage you refer to. Ive looked at the GRO image and it looks like 'Simons' or 'Simmons'

Her name is Gloria Edwards?

Gee

Gee Report 29 Jul 2011 21:25

Paul, Im not seeing that marriage you mention?

Gee

Gee Report 29 Jul 2011 21:09

Det... I think you might have a point

Who knows why...it was easy to make things up back in that time

If this was my family, I would HAVE to get that death cert...but thats me

That d.o.b on the death Ginny gave, is one day out. ;-)

Possibly a co-incidence or was Simmins another name she might have been known by after the poster's family lost contact?

Paul

Paul Report 29 Jul 2011 19:01

That's a good shout Ginny...but there is no marriage record for a Gloria M to anyone called Simmins. Additionally, if "M" is omitted only one single marriage comes up, but the middle initial is R, so I think the above can be discounted

Just to add to the information given - Unknown has PM'd me today as she had a thread started mid June before anyone was allowed to add to it.

In addition to the info given above, unknown says The reason she is not sure about the marriage to Theophilus M Williams, is that the spouse is listed as Gloria M Williams.

You'd have thought that if she was the previously married Aunt, she would be listed as Wright formerly Williams, or double entered.

Unknown has the exact dob, so any death prior to 2005/6 could be searched by first names and dob as Jonesey has pointed out. But the information on a DC is only as good as the informants knowledge.

Of course, it is always possible she is still alive, but too incapacitated to be included on an ER (mental infirmity etc), or elected not to have her name included on the commercial lists we can view by payment.

We/you need to look for children of both marriages - on freebmd, put the father's surname and the mothers maiden name and select a time frame. It's not infallible, but might throw up possibles.

Try search Trees on here, facebook or Friendsreunited for any children you may find. And of course on here for Gloria. Someone may have her in their tree.

Jonesey

Jonesey Report 29 Jul 2011 16:29

Technically speaking unless she had divorced or had reverted to using her maiden surname then if she married for a second or subsequent time then under normal circumstances her name at the time of any later marriage would have been under her formerly married surname.

Do you know her exact date of birth as death records after the late 1960's can be searched by forenames only.
