Still trying to find any relatives of Thomas Ford 1866-1933. Born in Glebe NSW and died in Rydalmere Mental Hospital NSW. He is the last of my g/grandfathers brothers that I'm trying to find and would love to contact any relatives.

I had a reply from the Ask A Librarian service and they found an Annie Rosewarn living in the next suburb from Thomas in Sandrinham NSW, It was the 1936 census but the only one that we could find her in. (Thomas died in 1933) We think she died in Victoria but no sign of family so thinking of getting her death certificate. They couldn't find a marriage certificate so still frustrated with Thomas. Looking as though he never married her but you'd think the children would be somewhere. The Health Dept won't give me access to his records unless I can prove that there are no living relatives as there is a 110 year closure but the chap I spoke to tells me that I know as much as was in his records, wife's name and 5 children no names or ages.

On the death certificate it says he was married at age 27 in Sydney to Annie Rosemaan/which could also be Rosewarn. No length of time married or actual status at the time of his death.
The informant was my grandmother's father, Thomas's brother William Ford of 8 Short Street Forest Lodge. It states Thomas was late of Sans Souci, Kogarah Municipality.

Many thanks

Hi Robyn,

Can you also please advise from the death certificate if it gives you the following information:

The marital status of Thomas at the time of death
Length of years married
The name of the informant on the death certificate

Cheers

Thanks Robyn,

Okay just for context as I know you have these already:

IN MEMORIUM

FORD – In loving memory of Thomas Ford, who passed away April 24, 1933. Inserted by his nephews. Arthur and William Shying.

His exact date of death was 22 April 1933. He was buried at the old Methodist Cemetery at Rookwood with his nephew (an infant) son of George and Catherine Shying on the 24th April 1933. I've visited the grave and there is no mention of a wife or children which makes me wonder if he was apart from them.
I've sent an e-mail to the Ask a Librarian at the NSW State Library so will see if they come up with anything. He is a brickwall I'd love to get through.
I really appreciate your help.

Robyn,

Can you please give me his exact date of death? I think I may have found something but I need this to confirm that it is him! :-)

Hmmm I'll see if there is anything that I can dig up for you! :-)

Sometimes these most 'recent' anscestors are the trickiest to find!

Hi Valerie
Thanks for the information, I'll give it a try but I have the death and funeral notices and his wife and family aren't mentioned. It's very frustrating.

Hi there ...in case it helps...... the 'NSW State Library' (on-line) has an 'Ask a Librarian' service ...they will check their records including newspaper death notices and electoral rolls (past & present). The death notice/s should give chn's names. (all 'State Libraries' offer same service)

The death certificate only showed that he had 5 living children no ages or names.
I applied for a look at his mental hospital papers but they won't let me have them as he could still have living descendants but I was told that the wife's name looked like Annie Rosewarn and the children only listed as living no names so still at a loss. If I could find any children it would be a help.
Thanks for trying to help me.

Hi Robyn,

Okay the trees on teh other site seem to be yours.

Doesn't the death certificate of Thomas show his issue at the time of death? They usually do..and you would have the names and ages of the children.

Let me know and I'll have ahunt and see if there is anything else I can find!

Hi

The Health Dept won't release his records as feel their may be living relatives but to date I haven't been able to find any'
Thanks Robyn

Thank you but I think it may be my site- if it's not a Spears or Ford site would you be kind enough to let me know. It has become an obsession with me to try and sort out this family. The Anna Roseman that Lynski found has given me hope but I still haven't been able to prove she is the correct one but certainly looks promising.

Hi Lynski
Thomas was born in 1866 and died in1933 so according to me he was 67 but his death certificate gives his age as 70 ( his brother William was the informant). Anna Roseman could well be the one. What threw me was that on his death certificate it said that he was late of Sans Souci and Glebe so really didn't look outside of NSW so now will go to Qld and see if he married her there and maybe the children will be registered there as well. Thomas was 27 when he married which would make Anna only 15 but then people did marry young.
I hope you are right as I've been looking for a long time to sort him out. Many thanks for your help. Robyn
