Hello Kimberley,

Just a little tip. If you are looking to come forward in searching for your grandfathers siblings, then I find it great to start with 'Search all Records" using your grandfather's information as your starter and then you can trace siblings from the Census if they are pre or in 1911. That will at least give you (possibly) the family; then you can use the Search Trees, etc.

I find if I start with All Records, then it gives me the lead to find the names of people. One does need some information, but it also gives you a lead in without.

We all start off as novices and learn as we go.

best of luck,

Regards,

Sappho

Why the angry face rambling rose? I have just explained above what i had done and didnt realise this was wrong as I was asking two different questions....I am very grateful for everyones help but i didnt realise by asking a question that people would start looking it up for me, I never asked this to be done!!
I joined this page to find out about my family, not to argue with people!!

Hi Flick, I posted one comment in find ancestors as I was trying to find the names of my grandfathers siblings! which i have now got...I posted another in 'find living relatives' asking how I find out about living relatives that have come from that family.....I didnt ask anyone to do it for me, I just asked how to go about it other than that freebmd. Sorry if this was wrong! I have now had a response from a woman who does share the same family as me, so I have access to her tree to get more information about living relatives.

Kimberley

It is totally contrary to site rules to post more than one request per topic.

I know you say you find it hard to use freebmd, but if you persevere, you will find out eventually how easy it really is...............

You can't expect to get all the answers instantly - it takes time, and patience.

Thanks for all the info,Patchem, Im finding this very confusing so some details maybe incorrect although most birth dates etc have come from here..I thought it was a long gap but there were girls in between this,I have Lillian speller 1906, charlotte mary speller 1911 and emily elizabeth speller 1916, Ive also come accross a Dorothy speller born in 1904 but not sure who's child she is..Emily married robert boakes, she died in 1996..
percival phillip speller married maisie davey in 1948, he died in 1989thats all the info i have.
Liz, I have written to a few people but had no response as of yet, theres a lady called Barbara Speller who has added quite a few of the same speller names to her tree, I am waiting for a reply. Thanks all.

If you get their exact date of births, we can find their deaths with more certainty. The names of the informants on the death certificate, and the location of the deaths, can give vital clues as to any marriages or children.

Are they all siblings born from 1889 to 1921, quite a long time?

If you want to give your grandfather's name and date of birth and the names of his brothers and sisters and where they came from someone will try to help. If these people are likely to be still living you can send the information in a private message.

How do I find out of any living relatives? I have the names of my grandfathers brothers and sisters but cant find out if they were married, and had any children who then went on to have children of their own, some of these at least should be living? Im not very good at this, Ive been on Freebmd and I cant do it, theres so many coming up and I dont know how to get up possible births for these people.
