Have you looked in search trees to find whether anyone else is researching her name/family?

Do you have, or under Scottish law (if born or adopted from there), your adoption file, or be allowed to apply for it?

Unless a clue is mentioned in the file, its highly unlikely that you would be able to identify your birth father. Such a shame that most of your birth family 'don't want to know' you. They are probably the only ones who may know something about the circumstances.

If you have a good relationship with your birth cousin, may be he can work on the older generation and get them to spill the beans.

Some naming patterns include the surname or first name of the father, if the parents weren't married - any chance of that being the case? [no need to answer that ;-) ]

Sorry to appear negative.
