Hinny, I used the thread that you posted on here for FB. As I said I have left a message but still no response yet.
Max, please do not feel that you have to stay out of this thread, it is better to have a few different ideas.
Last night our electricity went off , not uncomenn here in my part of Spain. So during this time I recalled that Hazel stepfather, but the person who brought her up had tne surname Slivinski at least I think that is the right spelling .

I feel sure that someone somewhere knows about Hazel.

All hands welcome to help me find her. I have a feeling that tucked away in my thousands of photos have a couple of photos with her children on as well. I will try to find them in the next day or two.

I am sure that we are all becoming sleuths !

It was the one with no image that I was talking about.

If she went to school in the uk why has she mentioned being educated in switzerland and France?

But she could be related

Dont get confused over the 'other' Hazel (That Jax mentioned) thats a no go.

The link I posted is the one that looks promising

Fingers crossed

I have left a message explaing why I would like to be in touch but so far I have not had a reply if it is a younger person I thought that maybe it is a grandchild... I expect I am wrong but hope is still in my mind.
I also wondered if Hazel was still in Germany but sure how to make contact, does GR have a Site in Germany, I wonder?

Well off to bed now, we are collecting son and his wife from Valencia airport first thing in the morning,

Bless you all for helping me!

Theres two people Jax, one is very young the other has no image and says she's schooled in 1911 which I think is either a mistake or a throw in!

You wouldnt be alive if you were at school in 1911!!!!

, I am so excited I am not able to look straight away..a coffee must come first just as Hazel,s mother used to make it.

I will be back with the outcome soon.....

SpanishEyes Report 10 Sep 2011 14:02

Ginny,
I did not mean to insult you...sorry, it was simply that you responded so quickly.
The story that Hazel always told her friends was that her father died soon after her birth. And he was a British soldier. Her mother was either from Berlin or from Poland, I wish my memory was better.
I believe that they were never married but her mother gave her her fathers surname.

I am not at all sure how her mother got to England nor her stepfather who
was definitely Polish. The place the family had connections with in Germany
was Niederelson or something similar. Hazel went there every year in the
summer and I was invited on two occasions. I met Hartmut living with his
mother prior to Hazel getting married.

I have fond memories of this time although my mother was not so happy!!

Who knows, one day someone might be able to look up this family in a German site. I assume there is one?!

Thanks Potty, I have tried there and also on our school postings but no one seems to know what happened to my bets friend, Hazel.

Thank you

Bridget

Have you tried Friends Reunited?

Gee

Gee Report 10 Sep 2011 11:27

LOL....no Bridget, I wasnt born then!

I was just trying to help but I cant see her or her birth, I presume she was born in Scotland?

Also there are no births listed with the maiden name Leacock?

Ginny, thank you for recalling the surname. Were you at school with us or do you know Hazel?

I last saw Hazel in Germany about 22 or 23 years ago. My marriage was disintegrating at the time. I think she disapproved of the person who was with me.

I miss her nearly every day as we had seen each other through many happy and sad times.

I am amazed at such a quick response.
Hazel's mother was always very kind to me and I can picture her even now. The strange thing is that I always understood that her real father was a Scot but I have never been able to find Hazel in any UK records? Perhaps she wasn't born in the UK after all, maybe she was born in Poland or Germany.
