Thanks LadyKira
Eli and Jane Hanah together with George my sister Eileen and the ashes of Ivey are in Laxton Churchyard
When I get some time I will have a go at the other info
George born 1894 Died 1917

patchem Report 12 Nov 2011 10:00

I thought it was stated that Charles was born at Howden in 1901, not 1891?
But if the names of the brothers fit, then just an error?

LadyKira Report 12 Nov 2011 11:40

There are 577 George Smiths who died in 1917.
Any idea of the regiment?

LadyKira Report 12 Nov 2011 11:48

Perhaps his age was passed down orally and dates worked back from that.
It is the only family that fits with names , and occupations. Brian also seems to be aware of Eli and Hannah Jane although it would have been useful fo him to have told us that in the beginning.

Brian when making a request on here please give as much info as you can so that when we search and come up with several possibilities we can rule things in or out. Especially helpful with Smiths. :-D

Brian Report 13 Nov 2011 10:43

George was killed in action Oct 25 1917 reg unknown
Jane Hannah died Aug 25 1915
