Could helpers please also mention on the thread that they have sent details of Address's.Births, Marriages ect by pm

This has happened a lot lately and it would save anyone else using credits on 192.com when they do not need to, or wasting time looking up things that have already been found

Edit - 7/7/2012

It still seems as though there are members replying direct to the poster but not mentioning this on the thread. It is becoming very annoying to other members who are therefore duplicating what has been sent

It would also be helpful if those who have sent a PM could advise the person on how to return to their thread.

If several other people have helped out, then the OP can return to acknowledge their advice also.................... we hope!

It would save me a job too :-D :-D

Just a nudge up

:-)

I very often see a thread where the poster only has a few posts so I write to them with a standard message I have saved to tell them they have replies and how to get back to their thread.

jax Report 29 Feb 2012 00:06

Cynthia does that too

Maybe if we do that we should post something like "pm sent re returning to thread" just incase the poor poster gets inundated with these instructions :-D

Will do that, Jax.

Just to remind people to actually say what they have sent by pm

Like

Possible birth sent

Address sent ect, ect

Thanks

That would be helpful if you could put that on a thread Lynski :-D

Due to personal circumstances, I have a fair amount of time to spend on here and, every day, I go through the boards (except Chat) to see who hasn't replied to their thread.

I then send them a message to alert them and guide them back.

Have been doing this every day for about 4 years now - including Christmas and New Year's Day.........I really should get out more.

I don't usually send a message to someone who has over 20 posts though. I reckon they should have twigged how things work by now! :-D

Forgot.........you will have gathered that some of the folk take heed of the message and some don't!

I don't think some of them read past the 'Hi' bit to be honest - they just click the first button they see and send me their tree.... :-D :-D

If you are going to help by pm

PLEASE mention it on the thread to save anyone else wasting time looking for the same info
