Why not contact the IAN HAMSHAW on FACEBOOK & ask him if he has ever come across a namesake born in 1965.

No harm in "talking" to the other Ian. :-D

Sherly,

Contact SS in the area that Ian was born and see if they can locate which agency was used, maybe he has been in touch with them to view his records, they should be able to tell you this,
It may be possible they will assist you with your search, but you can also ask if you can leave a letter with his file, telling him you would welcome contact with him :-)

If he was hoping his birth mother would find him he could add his name to this site where an older age group are more likely to look.

Sheryll Report 13 Apr 2012 21:32

sometimes they just put the place they live now though because I do the same! also I did think that about his name but I then thought as he did want contact at some point he may have set up an extra profile on facebook in the hope his birth mother may find it... :)

Because your one was not born in Norfolk, if he was adopted it is very unlikely he would be using his birth name on FB

NORCAP is a charity devoted to adults affected by adoption.

www.norcap.org.uk

It is for relatives of adopted persons as well as the adoptees themselves.

lol just thought I would ask... also what is NORCAP? I think you are right about the register, if ian has tried to contact before than it could be likely that he has his details on there..The only thought I had was that as his birth mother rejected him again he may have given up and he has no way of knowing that he has more family...such a shame, I will persivere :)

There are only 4 people born Ian Hamshaw - birth years ranging from 1965-82 - so not many, but no way of knowing if the one on Facebook is yours.
I would definitely ask social services and Norcap for advice, and get your husband's name on the register.

Also, can anyone answer this question? If there is only one Ian Hamshaw registered on births on GR and there is only one Ian Hamshaw on facebook, is it possible this can only be the same person? sorry if confusing, I am beginning to confuse myself lol....:)

I don't know the agency unfortunately, although we are in contact with the birth mother she will not discuss 2 much with us so all we have is his name, birth yr and district which I found on here...I am unsure of any other places to look apart from this adoption register...You are all so kind trying to help :)

Have you also checked under his mothers name both married and maiden ? do you know which agency was used for he adoption ? it looks like he must have been actively seaching in order to trace his birth mother,

Jax is right, I did mean to look for his birth name! Sorry not to be clearer.
I would try looking for all names you have for your husband's birth family. A long shot as I say, but easy to do so worth a go. And do look at the Ancestry trees as found by Kingsmill.
As he tried contacting his mother, at least it is confirmed he knows he was adopted and is interested in finding his family. So he might well be on the register.
I am no expert, but I have a feeling you might be able to leave a message on his adoption records? Worth investigating anyway.
I would also check out NORCAP if you haven't already. Just google search.
Fingers crossed for you.

Do you know the others who have his dad on GR Family tree
The one dated 1943 will be him as he was registered in J/F/M 1944

The SAME 2 people have his mum on their family tree

EDIT
I am confused on 192.com the parents are together ?
but there is another later marriage for the father

OR will there be another reason for his adoption
ie would Ian have looked for his birth dad as well as his birth mum ?
