I hope someone can help us PLEASE. George William Sutton a Tobacconist of 6a Borough Road Middlesbrough aged 26 years married Mary Richardson a Spinster a Comptometer Operator aged 26 years of 5 St Margarets Grove Redcar on the 11th March 1940 at Register Office in the County Borough of Middlesbrough. I have a second marriage certificate for George William Sutton who remarried on the 7th December 1960 and stated he was a Widower, he was residing at 72 Borough Road Redcar and was a Confectioner, he married Eileen aged 38 years a Spinster also a Confectioner who lived at 39 Buckingham Road Redcar. I have checked the electoral register and they were residing there namely Borough Road until the early 1970's. George William Sutton died on the 4th may 1971 Eileen was the informant. HERE IS THE MYSTERY. There was a child born who was known as Yvonne who resided at Borough Road Redcar. However we can find no trace of her at all, also no trace of a death certificate for Mary nee Richardson. However Eileen remarried to a Mr Snaith(e) a couple of years later. Yvonne gave birth to a daughter in or around 1964 somewhere in Yorkshire in a home for unmarried mothers run by Nuns. John is the father. We contacted Christs Church Coatham Redcar as the Rev Wiilliam Wordsworth now deceased was involved in the adoption but we have been informed they are unable to assist us with our search. We are anxious to piece together this mystery as we are wanting to find details of Yvonne's date of birth and the whereabouts of the child. Can ANYONE PLEASE HELP US. :-)

How do you know about this child Yvonne Sutton, and linked her to the above couple?

To narrow things down, look for Sutton births around 1964 where the mother's maiden name is also Sutton. If there were an adoption, there should be an S marked and the the of the volume number.

I looked for Sutton/Sutton births on free bmd from 1960 to 1968 - only March 1961 gave any hits. This was confirmed when I looked at the coverage charts. Not much use.

I then tried ancestry, and that refused to play also, it refused to give me surname Sutton, just mother's surname Sutton, I was perplexed.

Jan,
Did you mean the Franka Yvonne birth, as there is a possible marriage of Frank Sutton, but a year later, that could be that one? (Also a twin)

brummiejan Report 27 May 2012 09:10

I don't think the one I found is relevant to be honest, as it is in Bradford! I just looked for an Yvonne Sutton born Yorkshire 1930-50 (you know how it is on Ancestry, using 10 year span either side of 1940). This was the only one.
We need a bit of feedback here don't we.

Diane,
Have you looked to see if anyone has any of these people in their trees on here, and have you entered them in your tree, so that known relatives can contact you?
What is your connection to these people?
Thank-you.

Do you know if Eileen Sowerby/Sutton/Snaith is still alive (and what is her Father's name?)
Thank-you

Added:
When do you think Yvonne was born, as she could belong to a wife pre-marriage?

Can anyone help :-) to trace a birth certificate which should match with an adoption certificate I have located in this matter. Entry Number 01051 Reg District Hemsworth Sub District Hemsworth Western. Name at Birth Angela Sutton born 22nd June 1967 Adoption Order made on 11th December 1967 Date of entry 1st January 1968: Order made in Middlesbrough County Court, granted by A Crisp-Comotto ADOPTED NAME: ANGELA YORK.. wE ARE TRYING TO TRACE A DAUGHTER Born to YVONNE SUTTON who was unmarried and lived at 72 Borough Road Redcar, Teesside. Resided there with her father George William Sutton who was married initially to a Mary Richardson on 11th March 1940.He resided at 6a Borough Road Middlesbrough she at 5 St Margarets Grove Redcar, George remarried on 7th December 1960 . He is on the marriage certificate as a Widower aged 4years and he married Eileen Sowerby aged 38 years a Spinster. who was living at 39 Buckingham Road Redcar George died on 4tyh May 1971 and Eileen Sutton remarried a Ronald Snaith in 1973.As we can find no trace of Yvonne Suttons birth we assume she was adopted??? However we do know that she became pregnant the father was John Thornton who was married at that time. She went toa home for unmarried mothers somewhere in Yorkshire and a Rev Wordsworth from Christ Church Coatham Redcar was involed in the adoption. However we have receved no help from them despite their initial promises . Any help would be appreciated as we are at a loss. Thought is we could check the certificate against the adoption entry this might show that YVONNE is the mother.

Diane, I am really confused by this I must say. Is all the info above the same as the original query, with the exception of the adoption order for this Angela Sutton?
Is an adoptive name ever given, I thought this was confidential?

I am astonished that you think it's OK to post so much personal info about living people on this insecure site.............or indeed, that you would post it anywhere

Penny

Penny Report 3 Nov 2012 06:58

Too much info given!
My guess would be the birth mother as died and this info has been found in the back of a wardrobe or something, a file/envelope she kept.

This thread gives real cause for concern, especially as Diane has not given any indication of her connection (if any) to the people she is discussing in public, without their knowledge or consent

Diane, as pointed out there is far too much info on your thread, both from a confidentiality point of view and also making your query far too confusing.
It is unclear how you have come across this info re.Angela. You haven't bothered to explain how you know the existence of Yvonne Sutton, and why you want to track this person down. You really must respond to questions and give feedback to what people are saying.
You must remove the bulk of what you have put before the posting gets reported.
As far as I can see nobody can do any more than you are doing yourself to be honest.
