Still here KINGSMILL. Just took bit of time to get some info together. Bit disheartened as well, after so many promising leads. Do actually think found her, but ignoring all attempts at contact. I do appreciate all efforts people have gone to

Are you restricting yourself to looking in the Walsall area? Just because she married in Walsall, doesn't necessarily mean she was born there. I was born in Cheltenham, met my husband when we lived in Weston-super-Mare, and married him in Northampton! (And we've lived in several different counties since then.)
There is a birth for a Madeline Watson in 1947 Oct qtr in Woolwich, mother's maiden name - Kither. There is another for a Theresa M Watson in 1948 March qtr in Falmouth, mmn - Jones.

My first name begins with T. However one one to write a capital T in 'joined-up' writing, was like the way a capital J is now written! (like this J but with a top line on too) This is the way we were taught in school, my sister still writes my name with a 'J-like' T !

Hope that you have lucj sending for the birth cert.

Contact the local registry office instead of using the GRO to confirm whether J or T.

Has anyone of you thought that whoever transcribed the birth has put a J instead of a aT for the birth in 1944 in Northumberland.

It is a very big possiblity...

Sue

Alan I would re-send for the birth cert for Madeline J Watson 1944 Northumberland and take a hard look at the middle name...

Alan,

Why don't you contact your ex partner to ask them to send you all the file instead of waiting for another social worker to get all the info together again..

You haven't mentioned your father.

Is it possible to trace him to see if he knows anything?
