Yes I saw that marriage too which of course could or could not be her

Can I ask where you are getting this infomation from about Frederick J Carter?

If you now think the mother Jane Elizabeth Carter now remarried to a John Wilson in 1945 I take it you did not know this family?

Sylvia,

Can you go to your account and edit your screen name and/or select the box that says YES to display it?

It doesn't display when you post a thread making it almost impossible to contact you.

So have you met them then?

Yes they had their fathers name when they were born....but what happened after he died? did they move away from the area or do you know for certain they stayed in that area?

If the mother was approx 30 when her husband died there is a very good chance she remarried.....or maybe the children were adopted...but you need to tell us what You know...like when you last saw them

Do you know these people? If not could their mother have remarried and they took the stepfathers name?

That marriage probably belongs to someone born 20 years later

In your tree you have Joan as Joan A Carter, but she is registered at birth as Joan Carter. Is she definitely Joan A Carter, and do you believe she has never married?
Thanks

Have you looked in the phone book?

All UK directories are in the reference section of main public libraries

There are about 14 Frederick J Carter's born from 1935 to 1939.
No Frederick J Carter marries in Lancashire from 1953 to 1973.
Have you got any further information about him?
Thanks

Added:
There is only one Frederick Carter born in Lancashire in 1937.
Other members have Frederick born in Manchester and Leyland, have you contacted them just in see if their geography is a little suspect?
