Thanks for that ill take a look at your suggestions we have looked on forces reunited and contacted the court before who needed a reference number from Alan's mothers said they got lost in a move. Alan has also written to all 6 Malcolm Martin on 192.com and had two replies that it's not the same Malcolm Martin he is looking for.

Irene,

If you look on FreeBMD there are 2 births that fit. My money's on the one that was born down south in the military/navy town.

Then look at 192.com. There's one still in the area.

I wonder if there is any way of tracing info around court orders/maintenance? Assuming it was done officially. I haven't a clue if this is a possibility, it's just a thought.
Has Alan tried Reggie's suggestion re. Forces Reunited?

There seems to be a veterans' forum:

no to both :(
its such a shame...Alan's dad must have cared to have paid maintenance for all those years...he doesn't want to cause any upset..would just like to know who his father is he's wanted to find him for a while but the lack of information given to him is proving difficult

Is he on Alan's birth cert, and did he marry Alan's mother? Just asking as this might give him more clues.

Irene,

Why are you looking for him? Does he know about his son?

I'm reluctant to provide more information because his current family might be unaware.

If someone has higher Ancestry membership than me, they might look this up (I see about the odd spelling!):

Have you tried Search Trees on this site?

If you find a possible match you can contact the tree owner to see if you have a connection.
