Your right Jax, I will look into this. I'm also thinking it's a strong possibility that she married the policeman before the birth as she could have married my Grandad to save face as they say, believe it was very frowned on in them days. I wish I knew!!! Her choice, Police man or barrel delivery man?!?

Also if the mother was unmarried she may have been sent to a mother and baby home out of the area?

Hi Kingsmill,

That's for this :-S I have now updated my comments.

So sad to think of all the woman and baby's that must of died! I've looked into this hospital thanks to your link and it was rebuilt and continued to be used as a maternity hospital after the bombing. She may still have been born there? or maybe at the next closest hospital (still unsure as to where this would be).

Thanks you again,

Julia

Does your father know if the girlfriend was married by the time of the baby's birth?

Julia

Julia Report 16 Jul 2012 19:03

Oh no sorry, will try again.

I have some more information which may be important! I have just spoken to my dad, he said that Grandad had brought his other daughter into their conversation one day whilst being the pub together, he said that my Mum had another sister and that he had wanted to marry her Mother but she did not want to marry him and that he met my nan shortly after. He said his girlfriend was from the Norris Green area of Liverpool, which is not far from West Derby. My Dad could not remember any names but said Grandad found out that she had had the baby girl, but we still don't know if he made contact. My dad also thinks the baby was born late 1950's early 1951's, in the Norris Green or West Derby Area.

May have to wait until my husband comes home to add these pictures!

Thanks again for your time.

Julia

Julia, just to explain - you put 'bare with me' (as in naked!) rather than 'bear' - I was just teasing a little!!
Jan :-)

Hi, this is the only way I can do it, the iPad I'm using is not letting me add the individual pictures. I've also added a picture of my Grandad as a young man to the album, please let me know if you are unable to access it.

Thank you Jan, I agree its worth a try, every suggestion is greatly received, I will ask my Mum about the neighbours.

Here is the information that Rose suggested-

Benjamin Robinson ( Ben or Benny)
Born: 2nd September 1927, West Derby, Liverpool.
Death: 5th May 2010 West Derby, Liverpool.

Address: 13 Mill Road, West Derby, Liverpool.

Mother: Edith Robinson Nee Lewis
Father: Benjamin Robinson
Brothers:
William 1923-1977
George 1924-?
Reginald 1933 to date
John 1937-2008

Work:

My Grandad was given a clock for a wedding present in 1953 from National Benzole Co. Dingle installation Liverpool. (Maybe he met the mystery lady at work?) heĀ also worked for a brewery delivering barrels.

He went onto work with my nan at Plessey, Edge Lane, Liverpool until he retired about 1987.

I have a photo of my Grandad at the West Derby Weight Lifting Club he used to attend, he is the young man on the bottom far right and next to him on his left is my mothers god father Arthur Taylor but unfortunately he has passed now. I will try to attach it.

My mum has also been in contact with my Nans best friend who knows nothing, so my Nan must not have known.

My grandad battled with depression when he was younger, what a secret to bare, for sure he would have lost my nan if she ever found out!

Hope this helps, thank you again for your help.

Julia
