freebmd is easy to use......covers from 1837 to approx 1950.........for England/Wales

Illegitimate births are, of course, registered, but not usually with any reference to the father, so finding them can be a problem, unless you know the maiden name(s) of the mother(s).

As for why I do it...........as you get familiar with GR, you will find that a lot of the members put in time and effort to help others.

Basically, we enjoy it.....and especially so when the people we help are appreciative

Am I only able to get legitimate birth details from it? My dad and his two "full" brothers were all illegitimate to him.
