Good luck Peter! I think you are on the right track really. Suggest you explore all the info you have, then maybe come back if you hit a brick wall.

Dougie / Jan, thanks both. I recently visited the Scotlands People office in Edinburgh and was able to find the details of that marriage and birth cert for PPO'N. I Also found details of an elder brother and a younger sister of PPO'N but have pretty much run into a dead end, but am looking into another lead with a potential cousin/second cousin with the above info. sorry if this sounds vague but I'm trying not to break any of the GR rules. Thanks again for this

Dougie's find is worth pursuing I would say, unless you are sure he isn't yours (or it's your parents' marriage!!). Have you managed to locate the births of your father and his siblings? Not sure if you have his siblings' names.

Hi Jan, thanks for taking the time to reply and a big thanks your advice, I have now removed his DoB. I understand he has an elder brother and a younger sister. All Glasgow born. I don't know where they live now, either Scotland or England. Research suggests the latter was married in Glasgow and they had a daughter whom I suspect then married in Leicester and I'm exploring this in the hope that I can trace Mr O'Neill via her mum who I understand is my birth dads sister. Phew. Any tips ?

Hi Peter.
Firstly, I think you should remove his exact birth date - there is no evidence of a death for him in England/Wales which is the only search you can use it for. If still living it makes the information too public, in these days of ID theft! And in view of the nature of your search it's a bit too much to reveal on this insecure site.
There are 6 possible marriages for a Peter P. O'Neill in England, if indeed he married at all!. When do you last know he was in Scotland?
Without naming names, are you aware of any siblings?

(Revised to remove DD/MM of DoB)

Folks, I'm new to this and sorry if I'm stepping on anyones toes. I'm trying to find my birth father (according to my birth certificate). I know he was born in Glasgow, I suspect he no longer lives in Scotland but cannot confirm this. I suspect he has moved to England. There's no record of his death in the Scotlands People records. Any suggestions ? Where and how can I access Electrol register info Glasgow or England ? I'm only seeking for family tree and natural curiosity reasons. Nothing else. thanks. Pete
