Who told you he 'grew up in Alnwick'?

There isn't, as far as I can see, any census info to support the idea...........

he died at walton in the colchester borough at the age of 76 in 1962
he ran away at the age of 12 so he would have only been on the 1890 census

reggie i dont know how to un flag what you mentioned, it wasnt unusual for families to take on children from their relatives in those days, hes got to be out there it just seems hes under a different name and im unlikely to find him :-|

Reggie

Reggie Report 4 Oct 2012 16:35

Why don't you buy his marriage cert?

And you haven't yet told us how you found out his exact DOB...................

Jennifer

Jennifer Report 4 Oct 2012 17:47

hi reggie im thinking out of the box
there is a henry campbell born 1888 in hexham newcastle upon tyne 10b 162
hes on the 1891 census as henry campell 1888 hexham and not on any others
is there any chance you could see who he is living with on that census
on his military records he was henry and it was crossed out and harry was put in its place and hexham isnt that far from coldingham,my problem is i have loads of stuff about him but it stops at the age of 12 and there is nothing before that ,also other family members have given me what they have which i have had to rule out .
hes out there somewhere its just a matter of where :-)
