have you tried any of the websites about marriages in the Army on the internet :-)

Also please remember that some records over in ireland where destroyed have you try a website calle Roots Ireland they hold a lot of information. they also tell you which areas where effeted by the destroyed records

I have it on there too and nothing back for it either. I have spent the weekend putting "ANNIE" in for passenger lists from India. I know she was in India in 1928 and was to return later in the summer. Don't know if she was to return to England, Scotland, Wales or Ireland. I have used a free BMD site and put in Annie Spence to see what name came up for spouse and then check if an Annie with those names travelled. I am still not sure if it helped, but I am still working on them.
I am not sure which army sites to use.

According to a tree at Ancestry, this is Robert. You need the certificate to check his fathers details and with a bit of luck, his sister Annie may have been a witness

I have given the information to that tree. There is a Spence connection there too. I have Birth, Marriage and Death certs for the family. I have been in touch with Robert's son and I should be able to get the information on Robert and Edith Rose marriage cert. I know that Robert family don't know anything about Annie only that she was in India and they have a letter to say that. Annie's sister, Margaret died 1928 and Robert's brother wrote the letter to let him know about the death. There was another brother in Fife and I am in contact with his daughter and she only knows that she had an aunt Annie but has no information, other that she went to India. Another brother lived in Wales and again, same story. I have been able to tell them about their roots. Annie may have not been registered at birth as I cannot find it and I cannot find her baptism either in the Church and the others were there. I have spent weeks ,6 in all, going through passenger lists. I took 2 free weeks and paid for 1 month. I put in "ANNIE" and then checked the surnames for marriages or checked any children to see if Spence was there too. There were loads of Annies but I did not manage to find her. Also, I checked any Mrs too. I still have a few names to check for marriages. I have a copy of that letter and it states Annie was to return later the year, 1928. No one knows if she did return!! There were a couple of Annie's that went out 1927 and returned 1928 but when a check was done, the maiden name was not Spence!
The only hope is that a child or Grandchild of Annie Spence will read this and know! Fingers crossed!!

I was able to find him with the information given here. I now am able to talk to them on the phone and hopefully we will be able to meet later in the year. Annie is the only one now and she is proving very difficult to say the least!

Thank you for the interesting information. That little girl is still alive but I won't mention this to her. She is a lovely lady and I hope to be able to meet with her this year.
