Vena,

Chances are her daughter registered her death. If you order the death certificate, you will get her name and address.

i really have no idaea, i know i met vena in the early 70s and she used to write to me, i remember her address well, my parents told me she had a daughter named susan , all of a sudden my letters were returned no explanation
i seem to have hit a brick wall

Where did the information about the daughter being Susan come from?
The only birth would be with Thorpe as Thorp, and a long time after that marriage.
Births Sep 1948
Smith Susan Thorp Staincross
Do you think Vena/Vera actually married, or just took another name, and do you think the daughter was born before or after this marriage or living together?
Thanks

Added:
Is the death that I posted correct, as you had not mentioned a change of Vena to Vera?

She died as Smith but Ancestry has her name as Vera.

Whitwell Local History Group have a John Smith also in her grave.

This could be the marriage?
