catherine was my grandads sister hence interest in this family

I can't see an obvious marriage for them.
Looks like Ronald and Vera are on 192.com. in Merseyside.

I think Ronald might be on BT online too - certainly there is an R. Biddlecombe living in the Wirral.
BT online is free so worth trying.

You have to buy credits which has been mentioned before for 192.com

Just put in Biddlecombe merseyside for bt online...if he was ex directory he would not be one there
