Finding a person knowing very little about them

ProfilePosted byOptionsPost Date

Kirsty Report 7 Nov 2012 18:50

I am trying to find a person and know very little about them apart from a name although not sure on the spelling, his age roughly and the area he is living in !!!
I know this is all very vague there are reasons for this.

Can anyone point me in the right direction on how I could find him??
I don't want to put the details on here but will pm them if someone thinks they could help me.

Any help would be wonderful

jax Report 7 Nov 2012 19:06

Have you tried

Kirsty Report 7 Nov 2012 19:11

Yes and nothing I only tried the free search though :(

jax Report 7 Nov 2012 19:16

Free search would bring up the same info except full details of address not given

How about facebook or the trees on here?

Kirsty Report 7 Nov 2012 19:20

well yes but not 100% sure of the spelling of his name hence why the problem finding him, he was also in prison and came out earlier this year and all i know about his sentence is that it was a serious crime, I don't know the length of sentence. As you can see it is easier to find people from 100 years ago then now!!

patchem Report 7 Nov 2012 21:38

Google search of his name and crime to see if a newspaper report pops up?

Kirsty Report 7 Nov 2012 21:55

again tried that but don't know the crime.

He won't be on if he only got out this year.

Kirsty Report 7 Nov 2012 22:39

ok thankyou

brummiejan Report 7 Nov 2012 23:18

Have you any address for him at all, however long ago? I am thinking you could check electoral register if so, in order to get correct spelling of his name.

Kirsty Report 8 Nov 2012 18:17

all I know is in the Leeds area I can pm you his name as I would rather not put it on here.

brummiejan Report 8 Nov 2012 18:30

Well, you can do, but apart from very early London electoral registers, you can only search by address not name, and this has to be done in person.
So I guess I am unable to help!
Have you absolutely nothing else?
If you know which prison it was - hence area - you might strike lucky with local papers even if you do not know what crime was committed.
PS off to work in a mo, will catch up tomorrow.

Kirsty Report 8 Nov 2012 22:00

ok Jan thankyou I will see what I can find out and if I can find anymore information I will be in touch.

Kirsty Report 30 Nov 2012 20:18

nudge just in case anyone has any ideas

Penny Report 30 Nov 2012 20:20

PM me what you know - who what where when & why and I;ll try and think of other suggestions

Kirsty Report 30 Nov 2012 20:39

thanks Penny

Aussietrish Report 1 Dec 2012 07:36

couild try googling his name with the various spellings together with the

words criminal/remand/jailed/arrested etc and UK
you may be lucky and come across something

Kirsty Report 2 Dec 2012 14:07

thank you for the advice Aussietrish will give it a go

Peter Report 2 Dec 2012 17:13

I would suggest you send a letter to him via the probation office in Leeds. They will be aware of him if he has committed a serious crime. It seems a more suitable way of searching for a recent ex-con than using Genes Reunited.

Kirsty Report 3 Dec 2012 23:48

Thankyou Peter for your advice and help I will pass this on to my friend.
Kindest Regards
