Hi reggie,

yes I will be doing that, but will be away for a few days over Christmas, so will start again on my return.Thank you for your kind assistance, and I would like to take this opportunity of wishing you a very merry Christmas, and a happy peaceful New Year

Regards Ann

Are you planning to purchase the 1864 marriage cert?

For the sake of £9.25, you can find out if Thomas knew his father

Beryl Report 22 Dec 2012 13:43

yes, I do realise that the spelling is a problem, it has been from day 1. I have contacted several other members to see what their trees hold, one has replied, and it has given me a lot of information about my great Uncle who went to Bury. I now have all his family up to the present day. I have yet to hear from the others. Unfortunately, although I now have a lot more info, none of it is relative to the GG Grandparents , so again, I carry on!

Reggie Report 21 Dec 2012 16:51

Have you done anything yet about making contact with other members?

Reggie Report 21 Dec 2012 16:50

If you really want to find the 1864 marriage cert

Fanny was undoubtedly born before Civil Registration came into force, and Thomas's birth probably wasn't registered

The record of the name as Henngham is simply a mistranscription by must always allow for that. Ancestry mainly used transcribers whose first language isn't English............and whose knowledge of British surnames is limited, to say the least.

So, be flexible...........

Beryl Report 21 Dec 2012 13:55

thank you, seems very strange I can't find anything either - but its the first I have heard of anyone called Joseph Barnett - strange though Mr Picken was also a locksmith - could be their births were never registered

patchem Report 21 Dec 2012 13:49

Just putting the 1841 census, Thomas is in the same household, age 1 1/2, living with Joseph Barnett, locksmith, age 20 (?)
1841 England Census
Fanny Henningham Age: 3 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1838
Gender: Female Where born: Staffordshire, England
Civil parish: Tettenhall Regis With Tettenhall Clericorum Hundred: North Seisdon County/Island: Staffordshire
Country: England
Registration district: Wolverhampton and Seisdon
Sub-registration district: Tettenhall
Piece: 998 Book: 16 Folio: 30 Page Number: 8
Fanny Henningham 3
Source Citation: Class: HO107; Piece: 998; Book: 16; Civil Parish: Tettenhall Regis With Tettenhall Clericorum; County: Staffordshire; Enumeration District: 3; Folio: 30; Page: 8; Line: 9; GSU roll: 474626.

No obvious birth for Fanny or Thomas from bmd or IGI.

Beryl Report 21 Dec 2012 13:41

my mistake - thank you for pointing that out, but it still does not help me to find their bitrth details, or anything relating to their parents - I have scoured the birth records for all of them, but as yet have found nothing! Another thing I would mention is that the spelling is, as our name, and spelled Hevingham on the census record I have, and yet on the info you have it is mis-spelled - as Henngham, this is one of the problems I keep encountering, there appears to be a multitude of spellings, and this is another thing that is causing some of the problems - I am sorry if you find me a nuisance, but as I said at the start, I am no expert, and am learning as I go, I would never have thought that an unusual name like mine would be so hard to research.

Reggie Report 21 Dec 2012 13:18

OK......your info was from 1851..............not 1841

Reggie Report 21 Dec 2012 13:16

The way to find parental info for Thomas is to purchase his marriage cert

If he knew his father..the details will be recorded

Reggie Report 21 Dec 2012 13:05

You really should look in 'search all trees', and try to make contact with other GR members who are researching the same family

I wish you'd said you had all the census info...........

Not sure where you get the info about 'nurse child' in 1841

1841 does not record relationships

Beryl Report 21 Dec 2012 13:02

wow you have been busy
My g g grand father was Thomas Hevingham (b.1839) - spouse Betsy (Elizabeth)Smith (b1841)
My G Grandfather was Thomas Hevingham (b 1868) spouse - Frances Mary Bate (b?)
My Grandfather was William John Hevingham (b Dec 1899 - d l964) spouse Annie Florence Styles (b May 1898 - d May l970)
My Father was George Ronald Hevingham (b1928 - d 2003)

my problem is, I have loads of relatives along these lines, but I can find no trace of my G G Grandfather's parents, in fact, Thomas and his sister Fanny were on the 1841 living as "nurse children" with a family called Picken in Tettenhall Wood Wolverhampton, but I can not seem to find a connection - If only I knew what do do next - thank you for your help so far

Reggie Report 21 Dec 2012 11:52

You may need to obtain the 1919 marriage cert for confirmation of paternal details for the bride and groom

I can't see a birth or death for William as per the census info..............and following the wrong line could waste a lot of time for you.

On the other hand..............

.........perhaps they all went by their second forenames!

Births Sep 1897 (>99%)
Hevingham Alfred Thomas Aston 6d 435
Births Mar 1900 (>99%)
Hevingham John William Aston 6d 439
Births Sep 1902 (>99%)
HEVINGHAM Albert Edward Aston 6d 449

And there is a death for a John W which ties in with the birth
