I've just found out after 27 years that I have a full sister who was given up for adoption at birth. I know her dob and some other small bits of info but no name. She was born to Irish parents in jan 1985 and adopted through Camden adoption team. :-( :-(

Ho there.
When you say 'no name', do you mean you have no idea of birth name? Obviously you will not know her adopted name. You need to find this out really. I assume she was adopted in London - do you believe she was born in England or Ireland?

Add yourself to the national adoption contact register......and hope that she has done the same

It is possible to search for births using surname and mother's maiden name. If these are not too common you might be able to pin it down.
I can check for you if you wish - PM me any details you have if you prefer to keep things private.
It might be worth checking other peoples' trees for all the names you have - a long shot but easy to do and worth a go. Use 'search all trees' in search box above.

Susan,

may I ask if you were adopted as well?
Are you in contact with either or both of your parents?

Sue sent the surnames but I don't see a birth in the area mentioned.

Sue,

It's probably okay to mention your father's surname and mother's maiden name. Perhaps another pair of eyes would help.

Rose have you looked under mmn for the birth - even if the father had attended the registration the birth would have been put under the mother's name as well.

Your best option might be to register on the National Adoption Register as suggested by Reggie.
I would contact NORCAP for more specilaised advice (just google it).
Did you try checking for matching family on here as I suggested?

I can't see a Baby or Girl Jones birth anywhere 1985 or even 2 years either side. So I assume there is a first name?
Is there any reason to suppose the birth you found is your sister?

Was it in the Westminster reg district?

It's just there are 2 "female" Jones with mmn Jones registered on the same page in Jan 1985. The image is not available to view on Ancestry, so can't confirm they are 2 seperate entries or just a duplication in transcript.

If you are sure of the birth you've found I'd suggest getting the birth certificate to confirm it is correct, and get the actual dob. Then think about contacting Norcap and putting your name on the adoption contact register. Even without a christian name for her the adoption records will be cross-referenced to her birth.

Order certificates from here, it's cheapest: www.gro.gov.uk

Hi there,

I found a girl registered in Camden in Feb 1985 . I have sent this birth to Susan.

Unknown

Unknown Report 13 Jan 2013 22:14

It's the birth under Westminster! Although she was adopted through Camden, there is no first name. It turns out my father had a copy of the birth cert! I will be contacting Camden to see what they say..
Thank u all for your guidance, I will also look up NORCAP..
Many thanks everyone
Susan

Susan

Sadly Norcap is not longer trading, the best thing to do would be to contact the adoption agency to see if they will assist you with this search, put her name in a tree of here and also that of her Mother.
If you or your Father need any support or help let me know I in a group that I could recommend to you.

The Adoption Dept of Camden Social Services will be able to trace your sister's File quite easily just using the info you have
put on this Thread. As a sibling, they are obliged to assist you in your search.
I hope you find her, Good luck.
