Hi Sheila ...the 'QLD State Library' ....on-line ...has an 'Ask a Librarian' service.... they will check electoral rolls past & present ..and also newspaper death notices.

thank you both for your suggestions. I thnk the deaths may have been after 1985. I do have last known addresses in Queensland and did write randomly to houses in these streets some years ago without sucess I have also recently written a open letter to the nearest Post Ofiice that I could find. Are there no websites such as this in Australia ?? Thanks again

Australia is divided into 7 different states each of which keeps its own records. Restrictions on access to the records can vary between each states records.

Ancestry has this database but the records are unfortunately certainly not complete:

Australia Death Index, 1787-1985

One thing that may be helpful when searching the database for an individual is that you can include the names of the deceased's parents (Mother's maiden name should be included) as, if known these details are recorded on Australian death certificates.
