Hi everyone, my name is Felicity and I've just started looking for my adopted sister so I thought I would ask on here.

She was born Emma Louise Bridges in 1977 to my mum and dad when they were young so was adopted. My mum's name was Caroline Susan Ann Bridges and my dad's name wasn't put on her birth certificate which is a shame.

I've found the adoption register so will put my name onto that soon but was wondering if there was anything else that could help me. I'm going to Nottingham next week so thought I could contact the adoption agency if it's still going and maybe the archives??

Any help would be much appreciated. Both my dad and my gran are quite desperate to find her.

The adoption agency wont give you any info. Her adoption file is only open to her.

Welcome to the boards Felicity.

You wan't find anything in the archives for your sister other than her original birth registration - adoption records are not open to view.

You could try here - they offer support and assistance to birth families affected by adoption:

Although, no agency can give you any information on your sister, they may work as an intermediary in helping you find her.
