Iam not sure how to use this as i have just signed up today but iam looking for my grandad John Barry who i have little info about, as far as i know he moved to liverpool. he has a son Lee Barry who was born in 1962 (whom is my dad). He married my gran in 1958 in middlesex. my grans name is now Joan Baldwin but she has been re - married, her name before she married my grandad (john barry) was joan akers. my gran was born in 1934 so im guessing he was born around about the same time. and was also from essex area. i cannot ask my dad or gran for any info as i no longer talk to them. if anyone knows of him or thinks they do could u message me please? i have never met him and would like to know if he had any other children like my half aunties or uncles.
Thanks
Sophie barry

Buy the 1958 marriage cert. It will tell you how old he said he was, and his father's name.............if he knew it.

You need as much info as possible to look for someone with such a common name

Hi Sophie.

In case you aren't aware, birth marriage and death indexes 1837-1955ish for England and Wales are free to search on Freebmd:

http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl

This is your grandparents' marriage:

Marriages Mar 1958 (>99%)
AKERS Joan B BARRY Edmonton 5e 764
BARRY John AKERS Edmonton 5e 764

The entry above contains all the details you need to get a cert. They cost £9.25 and can be ordered online from the GRO:
