Do you know if that is exactly how the spelling was for his name?

To find out if anyone else has researched this family/person have you tried "Search All Trees" under the Search button above?

You can put the names of the family in and see if anyone else has them.

If you find a possible match you can contact the tree owner to see if you have a connection.

I would suggest that you delete the automatic message about looking at their tree. Most members will not open their trees to you until a connection has been established so just type your own message about who you think you may have in common.
