I am trying to trace my Grandfather David Joshua Clack born in 1924 in Brentford, he had a twin brother Arthur J Clack who is deceased. I have been trying to trace David since 2009 but have not found anything to suggest he has died so I am presuming he is alive.
I would also like to trace his daughters or any other children he had, I know of 4 daughters Doreen, Christine, Sheila and Sandra who's mothers maiden name was Brown, or any children of his twin Arthur J Clack.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I seem to have hit a brick wall.

Have you looked in 'search all trees'?

Have you tried using Friends reunited?

Did your grandfather marry the mother(s) of his children?

Have you looked for a marriage/children for Arthur?

His death cert may give you helpful info about the informant

EDIT

Found it...........earlier than expected.

Thanks for the reply I have tried search all trees and friends reunited.
Yes David married The mother of those children I listed but not my grandmother.
I have received Arthur's death certificate but the death was registered by David and I have tried the address listed but nothing I am afraid.
I am at a loss now as to what to try next.

In view of the location of Doreen's birth registration, this may be her mother

As David registered his brother's death, one must assume he had no other close living relatives

Have you looked for a marriage for him?

There's one possibility on freebmd.......the cert would confirm

Nicola

Nicola Report 15 Mar 2013 10:29

Yes I think that is definitely her mother.

Nicola

Nicola Report 15 Mar 2013 10:44

Yes I thought that about him registering the death.
Through this site I have found a grandaughter of Arthur but she has no information at all and is trying to trace any other children Arthur may have had.
So we are both in the same situation.
Am I right in presuming that if I am unable to find a registered death for David to date that he is alive?

If you've found Arthur's granddaughter, you must know from her who/when/where he married, and the details of whichever of her parents was his child. Use that info to look for other children

David could be alive........he could have emigrated.

He could have died after 2006.

Yes I do know about them being an "interesting family", and was very shocked, I was not aware of this part of my family until a few years back.

As for Arthur's grandaughter she only found out about Arthur being her grandfather in the last few weeks, so we are both trying to search with limited information and only know what both of our Grandmothers are prepared to tell us.

Thanks to everyone for there help so far.

I have a copy of Arthur's death certificate and David Registered the death in 1973. So that is the last proof of him being alive, but I can not find any death registered for David.

So you're saying that Arthur didn't marry the woman who had his child(ren)?

Have you tried to find any possible marriages for Doreen, Christine, Sheila and Sandra and looked for children?

Nicola

Nicola Report 17 Mar 2013 08:48

Thank for the help so far, I will try to answer all of your questions, I have tried the address on the death certificate but got nothing from that.
Arthur's granddaughter knows her grandmother married Arthur and had 1 child her father and that is all they know as it has never been spoken about, they are now trying to locate any other children from Arthur and are looking into any other possible marriages.
I have located some possible marriages for David's daughters which I am looking into.
But a lovely member of this site has sent me a message with possible addresses to try for his daughters, so I am just putting a letter together to send to them.
Thanks again.

Could you say which daughters and where, approximately, the addresses are, so that helpers on here do not spend time looking for the same information.
Thank-you.
