A massive thank you to everyone and especially Deborah for the PM. The address she supplied for Doreen was correct and I have spoken to her tonight on the phone, I am still shaking as I never thought I would find them.
Sadly David died in Spain in 1998 but apparently he had 9 children in total, So I have lots to find out from Doreen.
She was a really nice lady and happy that I had got in touch.
Thank you all again. :-) :-) :-)

Nicola Report 18 Mar 2013 19:55

Thanks to Deborah for the pm with a possible address for Doreen and one for Christine. I am writing a letter now though I keep changing my mind on how to write it.
I did find a Christine on Facebook, I have sent a message but had no reply. I think I have to remember that she may not even know about my Dad and may not want to know.
Thanks again. :-)

Nothing to apologise for.
It just makes it easier if helpers who are sending you information privately indicate on here that they have done so.
Otherwise you might get sent the same information from many different people, which is rather a waste of effort.

Nicola Report 17 Mar 2013 10:44

Yes of course, sorry it is Doreen in London and Christine in Reading.
So I think I will write to them and see where that takes me.

patchem Report 17 Mar 2013 09:42

Could you say which daughters and where, approximately, the addresses are, so that helpers on here do not spend time looking for the same information.

Nicola Report 17 Mar 2013 08:48

Thank for the help so far, I will try to answer all of your questions, I have tried the address on the death certificate but got nothing from that.
Arthur's granddaughter knows her grandmother married Arthur and had 1 child her father and that is all they know as it has never been spoken about, they are now trying to locate any other children from Arthur and are looking into any other possible marriages.
I have located some possible marriages for David's daughters which I am looking into.
But a lovely member of this site has sent me a message with possible addresses to try for his daughters, so I am just putting a letter together to send to them.
Thanks again.

patchem Report 16 Mar 2013 23:13

Have you tried to find any possible marriages for Doreen, Christine, Sheila and Sandra and looked for children?

Reggie Report 16 Mar 2013 22:11

So you're saying that Arthur didn't marry the woman who had his child(ren)?

What was his address in 1973?

Nicola Report 16 Mar 2013 19:20

I have a copy of Arthur's death certificate and David Registered the death in 1973. So that is the last proof of him being alive, but I can not find any death registered for David.

Where and when was he last known to be alive?

Nicola Report 16 Mar 2013 16:33

Yes I do know about them being an "interesting family", and was very shocked, I was not aware of this part of my family until a few years back.

As for Arthur's grandaughter she only found out about Arthur being her grandfather in the last few weeks, so we are both trying to search with limited information and only know what both of our Grandmothers are prepared to tell us.

Thanks to everyone for there help so far.

Reggie Report 16 Mar 2013 10:38

If you've found Arthur's granddaughter, you must know from her who/when/where he married, and the details of whichever of her parents was his child. Use that info to look for other children

David could be alive........he could have emigrated.

He could have died after 2006.

Online BMD,s only go to 2005 ,limited 2006 on FMP so if he died after them you won't find the ref online I, afraid

Nicola Report 15 Mar 2013 10:44

Yes I thought that about him registering the death.
Through this site I have found a grandaughter of Arthur but she has no information at all and is trying to trace any other children Arthur may have had.
So we are both in the same situation.
Am I right in presuming that if I am unable to find a registered death for David to date that he is alive?

Nicola Report 15 Mar 2013 10:29

Yes I think that is definitely her mother.

Reggie Report 15 Mar 2013 10:29

As David registered his brother's death, one must assume he had no other close living relatives

Have you looked for a marriage for him?

There's one possibility on freebmd.......the cert would confirm

Reggie Report 15 Mar 2013 10:24

In view of the location of Doreen's birth registration, this may be her mother
