Georgettetaylor,

Could you explain how you felt bullied - possibly starting a new thread as this is really Johanna's post looking for Sidney Lamont.

patchem

patchem Report 23 Mar 2013 20:28

The friction on here seems to have been caused by Locater.

Therefore it is I that cannot understand what you are on about.

georgettetaylor Report 23 Mar 2013 20:29

on my other posts, in the way i was spoken to .... when asked not to put personal details on my posts, they were ignored, telling me my search was more orless usless, ect ect.... i will give this a couple of mins and then i will remove all my comments off the thread

Georgettetaylor,

If you felt bullied then I am sorry about that.
I hope that you were always treated in a polite manner, and that guidance was offered, with your expectations being realistic.
You are asked not to put personal details on your post as it is against the guidelines of the site.
It is a balancing act between privacy and giving necessary information.

I go and have my tea and all hell breaks loose :-D

I think you have imagined being bullied Georgette, or is any sort of conversation bullying to you

I hope GR take this reporting seriously and Banns whoever has been doing it :-D

All you needed to say when Patchem asked if you could provide some information on the help you had sent, was to say "re marriage" or death or possible address

That would prevent needless duplicate searches by other helpers ................ and allowing them the time to work with other requests.

................ and that would have prevented much of what has happened on this thread.

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 23 Mar 2013 21:44

as for informing a new poster on how to return to a thread ...................

This was Johanna's first post ....................... so she may well not know how to find her thread.

Most of us very gently add to any pm to a new poster ............... "In case you do not know, you can find your thread by looking in My Threads, clicking etc etc ................."

and this would allow a new member to return to the thread, see what others have posted (even if you do not agree with them) ............

............... but also allows that new member to thank people for the help given, and for the time spent.

Nowt to do with trying to beat you to the post ................ helping is not a "first to the post"!

A couple of georgette's threads.......

http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards/board/ancestors/thread/1321637

http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards/board/ancestors/thread/1321845

If there is any 'bullying' in them, I'm using the wrong dictionary

georgettetaylor

georgettetaylor Report 24 Mar 2013 17:28

jax

jax Report 24 Mar 2013 17:41

There was no bullying on your twin thread, you and your mate just did'nt like anyone giving you advice so you kept deleting and starting again....which I am sorry is not the done thing, nor is reporting posts because you do not like the comments

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 24 Mar 2013 19:06

Georgette posted ...............

georgettetaylor Report 24 Mar 2013 18:08

I haven't reported any coments ... I've got 2 options watch the goonies on tv or listen to them on here... chosing the 1st option ... more intresting.. goodbye

you really are not doing yourself much good you know, by calling us "goonies"!

We are the people who help you.

We are not the bullies ............

............. we just need to be given sufficient information that we can do what we like to do, and give you what you want.

If you consider being asked to provide more information is bullying, then I am sorry ...........................

you obviously have a very different sense of bullying, and a very different idea of what GR is all about.

for information ................

I did NOT report Georgette's post.

georgettetaylor

georgettetaylor Report 25 Mar 2013 10:11

dont worry about it, it dosent bother me in the slightest who reported it,
im sure genes will look into it all
just indicating its like behaviour from children!
remind me of hormonal teenagers! .... have to have the last word in,,,,, going on and on and on
maybe you should leave the thread alone and for genes to make there dessions on the matter
thats what im trying to do! but instead comments keep being added waiting on a response from others,
which is just going to drag it on and on, so again, ill try say goodbye
but im sure they be more comments on later to carry it on!

Reggie Report 26 Mar 2013 22:56

For some reason, Locater is jumpy about being addressed by her forename...............

Locator

Locator Report 27 Mar 2013 07:01

I have a right to choose how people know/address me just as you do, had I known the hostilities of 'the few' on this board; I would have change it before using them, I trusted all in here were nice helpful people; sadly I was wrong, why on earth should changing my title suggest guilt, that may be your reason but not mine.

I must apologize for misjudging you, I had taken offence thinking yours [& the few's] onslaught was personal to me, however I now see I was wrong; after reading quite a few of your replies it appears 'sadly' that this is your natural manner, hence you will never offend me again!

I asked my friends as to what name I should chose 'they' came up with Locator, due to my successes I felt it appropriate & LOVE IT!

Oh I must add, myself & Georgette felt comfortable in replying to your nastiness on this poor ladies thread; because I had located what she needed; hence myself & Georgette felt she was not likely to return, sadly this could not be said for you lot; that have carried on on here for three bleedin days.....

For the record MY LAST COMMENT WAS 19-45 on the 23rd..

patchem

patchem Report 27 Mar 2013 07:33

These are from the guidelines that genes posts

'It is also worth watching your thread for a while because quite often a helper may require further information of you.
If you are not able to do so, can you at least put something on there for example " will be back on later " as there are quite a few with information on and yet posters have not returned.'

As you can see, genes expects posters to return.

I cannot understand your comment that you had located what she needed, as she asked for any information about him which could refer to many different things - death, further marriages, children, precise location, relationships, which is why her return to the boards was needed.
You refer to her as a poor lady, I do hope she is not.
Any poor lady would have returned to the boards to see what information had been posted and to provide an update.

This was from a different search for Sidney Russell Lamont posted on genes in 2010. That poor lady returned to her post and edited it, but did not give any further information or feedback. Would it be worth putting the 2 posters in touch.

'TO FIND SIDNEY RUSSELL LAMONT BORN MONTROSE SCOTLAND 1938 . HE WAS MARRIED 1986 TO JEANLAMONT SHE DIED 2001 . I CAN'T FIND HIM AFTER THAT HE WAS LIVING AT LOWESTOFT THEM HE NAME ON HER DIED CERTIFICATE '

Death Date: 16 May 2001
Burial Place: Lowestoft, Suffolk, England
Died aged 64 years. Wife of Siddy and Mum of Lisa.

That should be addressed to the poster not myself, I gleamed from her that I had provided what she needed & therefore felt she was not likely to need anything else from her post, whether she chooses to follow Genes 'Guide'lines is not something I can influence.
