You mention Lancashire or Yorkshire in your opening post--so do you think Willie moved to Lancashire at some point ?

There is this Death index

Deaths Sep (Quarter) 1943

HOLROYD Willie --age 74--- Manchester 8d 54

and this record from the National Probate Calendar --which MAY BE about the above Willie

Willie Holroyd of 552 Manchester Road Bury, Lancashire. Died 31st July 1943 at Manchester Royal Infirmary. Probate Llandudno 28th September to ADA HOLROYD spinster. Effects £560.

Now we know Willie had a daughter named ADA in the 1911 census but as I say I can't say this is the right one for you.

I am so sorry Bryan, his death date on the Probate should have been 31st July 1943 not 1942 as I had put. I have now Edited it on the Probate post above. Once again I am sorry I made that mistake. I will try and send you the probate image by PM.

Hi there, Bryan...

I am completely new to this GR site, so this may be way off mark regarding your search, but I can tell you that at the top of Turf Pit(s) Lane, Moorside, Oldham was (and still is but a different kind of business) a dairy farm owned by a Holroyd family during the 1940s when I was a kid living on Strinesdale estate right by that farm....

You mention 'Yorkshire or Lancashire' in your posting - well, the county boundary was (and still is despite the invention of 'Greater Manchester'!) about 300 yards from Holroyds' farm!
