Find Living Relatives

Hi, I am trying to find my birth mother her name is Sheila J Chase born 1939, I also have a sister by the name of Maria Alexis Chase born 1964. I was born in 1966. If any one could help me find my family I would greatly appreciate it. :-)

Have you got her birth cert? You can check for any siblings she may have had and try to follow them through the BMD,s

Have a look too for a possible marriage for her. It may mean buying some certs for cross checking its the right family

well her birth name was Woon she married a Mr Shaw then David Chase / look on FreeBMD . her maiden name isnt Chase its Woon

Sheila Woon is in Robin's tree on here, so perhaps she is trying to find present where-abouts of Sheila, or subsequent marriages?

The Shaw/Chase marriage was in Islington in 1964.

The marriage was to a David E Chase.

Could do with more information regarding her last known whereabouts - sisters birth details were amended in 1977 changing her name to Chase.

Robin, are you in contact with any of your mother's siblings to see if they can shed any light on her whereabouts? I think Jean and her second husband are in Brentwood, and in the phone book.

Yes Shirley/Patchem, I did the same but held back sending info until OP came back. She may already be in contact with the aunts/uncles.

Thank you for the details. I am just commencing the process of trying to locate my mother and sister, I appreciate your assistance on the information that you have all found.
Being from Australia it is difficult for me to purchase certificates as I can not travel to England at this stage.
I don't know if Sheila J Woon has any siblings. I know that her mothers maiden name is Harrison, but that is all I have.

Certs can be purchased on line and sent to you.

Can I just ask, were you given for adoption? If so, I wonder if this lady will appreciate all her personal info being on the internet for all to see? maybe discression needs to be exercised here

If you go to this site and enter the surnames Woon and Harrison and search for births from e.g. 1927 to 1947 there appear to be 5 children in the family.

Robin lives in Australia, and has accepted my offer to contact the
English aunts uncles and cousins who I have found contacts for,
and acquire any information relating to mother and sister.

lets hope they know she had the baby then, otherwise all hell could break out.

I think that telling Penny to wake up was not a very tactful reply, and makes one wonder whether you are the best person to approach relatives who are possibly up to 80 years old.

Presumably you have been in extensive contact with Robin off the boards and have been told why he has lost contact with his Mother and siblings.

Robin has been sent various addresses and so should be quite capable of writing letters from Australia.

We have had no response on here as to adoption or why Robin had no knowledge of aunts and uncles, so I think from what has been posted on the boards Penny's response was eminently sensible.
