I am trying to get a copy of a death notice for my cousin Thelma. She lived in Manley in Sydney. Whether she died in NSW I do not know. Her family came from Adelaide. She was married two may be three times. I believe a death notice appeared in one of the Sydney newspapers on 9th March 1979 but I cannot find it. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Anne ...the 'Ryerson Index' (on-line) shows Thelma's death notice was in the 'Sydney Morning Herald 8/3/1979.
'Ryerson's will do a (free) 'look-up' of this notice.

The 'NSW State Library' (on-line) has an 'Ask a Librarian' service ...they too will check newspaper death notice/s (if given date).
They also check electoral rolls - past & present.

If you wanted an actual copy of her death cert. (which should give ALL her details) ..a 'transcription service' (on-line) will provide this for about $20.

If you want to purchase a death certificate you can use a transcription agent and save a lot of money . I have used this lady and found her very proffessional

http://www.transcriptions.com.au/

It will cost $18.00

The only difference is the transcribed one is in black and white. All the information is intact and exactly as the legal copy but cannot be used for legal purposes.
Wish I had known this when I started researching in Australia. you can get 2 transcribed certificates for the price of one legal cert.
