Trying to find the whereabouts of Peter j Hickling. Born in nottingham in 1930, son of claude hickling and gertrude rowlstone. The difficulty is, there are quite a few peter j hicklings in the area, and i can not figure out how to find out if or when he married, without buying at least three or four, if not more, marriage certificates. There is another peter j hickling who was born in 1928 in same area. And it is definately not the peter j hickling who married mavis waslin.
I am considering it is maybe the joan wilson marriage.
He has been in the army so could have travelled anywhere.
I would welcome any ideas or tips. His sister is looking for him and accepts that he may have passed away.
regards

Yes, sister knows his exact date of birth, definately 1930. Think she lost touch around late sixties , early seventies. he was in the army and a bit of a loner. She is the only one left, one sister died as a baby. I have had contact with trhe hickling family in norfolk, its not them, think the peter j hickling there was younger. I have been trying to track via a marriage, but because of the many peter hicklings i have struggled.

hi again
gertrude was born in 1906 in basford. Not sure why you thought the above gertrude was her? oh, just noticed a gertrude marrying a butcher-but didnt think her and claude had separated. No mention made, will check that. thanks

Have you looked to see if anyone on here has him in their tree?

Can you reduce the number of possible marriages, and then balance that against how much his sister can afford to spend? (Though he might never have married)

I have looked to see if anyone has got him, and i dont think they have. Well, one has i think, but they dont know anything about the hickling side, just the rowlstone side of the tree.
I will speak to his sister , who doesnt always remember everything at times, this week hopefully, and mention she may have to purchase certificates. Im sure she wont mind.
Its was definately late sixties last time she saw him, so its a very long time. If he was alive, he would be in his eighties so she doesnt hold out much hope, but at least we can try.
i appreciate all your help everyone.
