hi my name is Janet Shelia dykes born 1941 my mother was Gladys may dykes 35 ross road norwood,i was adopted out 7/4/1942 my adopted parents were Alfred gorden warren and Elsie Lillian warren and moved to Australia were all contact with my family was lost. i have found my mother listed volume 2a page number 1395 district Croydon and don't know who my father was. I was trying to find out if my mother remarried or had any more children that I could contact just to say hello and let them im here, I have come to a stop and don't know what else to do and if some one could help or read this that may know were for me to turn to thankyou janet.

The reference details you quote for you mother are YOUR birth registration details. She was unmarried at the time as her maiden name is also Dykes.

Do you have a copy of the adoption records?

Not seeing a birth or a marriage in the area for her but she could have been sent away to have you.

The one born/died in Suffolk was an only child....but I can't see a marriage for Dykes/Howe, so perhaps the mother had been married before

A Google search suggests that your birth address was a mother and baby home.................

at the moment im going with a message from anne lee she has given me a gladys m dykes that was married in rydale to a john wing she had two children, and i have contacted one of them and he is looking into the family history,i will keep you all posted cheers and thankyou for your help.

Leanne what knowledge do you have, that the rest of us have not found.
Four Gladys M Dykes born 1898 to 1920, three marriages 1936 to 1942,
one did not marry, only one marriage for Gladys M to a Dykes in 1921,
all five deaths found 1940,1971,1978,1991, 2003, no connection found
via siblings aunts or uncles to Croydon, it`s only the unmarried Gladys
that can not be fully checked as marriage not found for parents.
