Hi Unknown,

If you google Denbigh Mental Hospital there is a site that gives some information, which may help you with your tracing.

I noticed Pamela Michel wrote a book and it may contain some information as she mentioned patients. You may be able to contact her as she may have some information to help you.

It gives photographs, etc. and it could lead to someone with further knowledge and can refer you on to connect about your birth mother. You could also try Gwynedd Archives Service, Caernarvon Record Office as suggested as with a genuine request I cannot see they would not at the very least consider it.

Good luck with your research.

Patchem
I merely asked if anyone on here had known Jean from her lengthy time in Denbigh mental hospital, as I understand she had a really bad time prior to admission.
My post was a genuine one, to help me put the pieces of my fragmented past together, so that I could trace my birth mother, who I believe is still alive.
With that in mind, I`m a little surprised at the tone and content of your response.
Thanks, all the same.
Regards
Pete

Patient confidentiality?
How would you feel about someone accessing your private NHS records?

And do not just say that as she is dead, what does it matter. There could be other relatives involved.

Records of patients up to 1988 seem to be held here, but it's unlikely, as they are recent records, that you would be allowed to see them, but you can always ask!

My birth mother spent a long time as an inpatient at Denbigh Mental Hospital until it`s closure afew years ago, her name is Jean Jones from Blaenau Ffestiniog originally from Llanrwst.
I would be most grateful for any information.
Best wishes
