You might be able to but 'might' have to produce the DC. Hopefully his partner will be willing to send you a photocopy. As long as they have been told (pension rights etc) the date of death might suffice. The records we are normally asked about are for older men who would have served in WW2 or shortly after..

It will cost £30 and may take many months to arrive. The organisation prioritises the needs of current or recent service personnel.

Added - if he actually married his partner, s/he can apply at no cost

I'd just like to thank everyone,especially Shirley who helped me in my search for my dad.i was able to find his partner who informed me that he has sadly passed away,so today is a very sad day for me.his partner has sent me a letter and photo,so I know the circumstances of what happened.although not the outcome I'd hoped for,at least now i know.

I've ordered birth and adoption certificates from gro.parish priest was able to give me date of birth.ive got a tracing agency looking for him,even they can't locate him as their is no record of his birth.

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 3 Jul 2013 11:07

There is a special register for adoption certificates - only the adoptee and his new parents can access it on application.

His original birth reg will have a notation next to it to indicate adoption, but as you don't know that name, you're up the proverbial!

If you think he was adopted, have you added your name to the Adoption Contact Register?

OK,

There are several trees on Ancestry that have her a Marjorie Elizabeth born Sevonoaks.

They have Albert dying in 1944 but I don't see a death for him on CWGC. It could be this:

Deaths Jun 1944
Draper Albert 36 Dartford 2a 1101

Also, you say he was born c1945 but there's no Draper/Daniels birth then.

There are several Draper/Daniels children. The latter ones look to have another father.

How did you get your father's date of birth and adoption records? Only the adoptee has access to these.
