It might be worth following up Reggie's suggestion re the Kings Own Royal Regiment (C&P both lines of the address)

http://www.forcesreunited.org.uk/namearchivelanding.asp?SE=namearchive&
KW=Kings%20Own%20Royal%20Regiment

Don't just ask to view someone's tree as you are more likely to be ignored - delete the default 'May I see your tree' and type an explanation of what you are hoping to find out.

You can always check to see if your message has been read by looking in your 'Sent Messages' tab. If it hasn't been read, then there will be an envelope icon next to it which disappears when the message has been opened. Unfortunately there are many abandoned trees on GR - the owners may have lost interest or even died.

There is no indication he remarried or passed away.

Your best bet is to try and contact relations of his brother.

Did you contact the Linda Dyer with the membership number beginning with 101 ?

Don't expect a reply after a couple of hours not everyone looks at their emails on a daily basis?

Tracey

Tracey Report 9 Jun 2013 15:04

No,I couldn't find her

jax

jax Report 9 Jun 2013 15:11

Search for Thomas Dyer 1924 Dartford...you will then see there is more than one entry for a Linda one has a membership number beginning with a 4 which is about 7 years old and there is also one beginning with 10 which is about 3 years old...so it is more than likely she would be using the latter account as it is more recent

If you look at his friends one of them is Linda, but sending messages to non friends do not get proper notifications but worth a try

He is also on Friendsreunited, on both schools listed on his facebook page.

His profile says he is living in Ireland which probably links to this entry on LinkedIn. Can't work out when that was last updated, or if he has moved back to the UK
http://ie.linkedin.com/pub/iain-sleafer/53/110/651

Its free to register and use Friendsreunited and probably LinkedIn. As long as his registered email address is current for both, he should receive messages via either route

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 10 Jun 2013 17:56

It would appear there was during the 1950's - there are several on-line memoires mentioning training camps.
