Hi,
Thanks for your replies. One of my relatives said that she had a cousin called Peter Higgins that was in her class at school in the Manchester area & would have been born in 1940. I do not have him in my tree at present & would like to find how he fits in & maybe contact him.

From the free bmd it would appear that his mother's surname was Campbell-Morrell.
I'm drawing a blank when trying to find father via marriage records.
Marriage would have been in the Manchester area.

If you cant find a marriage then how would you know it was in Manchester??

You may have to buy his cert to see his parents names .

Maybe the marriage was Scotland .

That Campbell -Morrell surname only comes up in the context of his mmn no other records .

Never assume anything about location...........especially during wartime

What was the birth surname of the relative who told you Peter was her cousin?

Angela

Angela Report 20 Jun 2013 22:45

Thank you.
All of the Higgins family that I already have in my tree since 1829 have lived in the Manchester area. (Ancoats).
The birth surname of my relative that told me is Mason. My great Grandmother was Rebecca Higgins 1875 - 1937. Her brothers were:
Nathaniel 1880 - 1953- Married Annie Jackson had son James 1916.
Joseph c 1887 - ?
Edward 1893 - ?
Ernest 1897 - ?
I have been unable to find out any more about her brothers & suspect Peter may be related to one of them.

Where have you looked for info about Rebecca's brothers?

Have you used freebmd?

Which of the family is the Mason relative descended from?

Nathaniel Higgins 58 1853 was my Great Grandfather and father of Rebecca my great grandmother.

I have been unable to get any further with any of those shown above.
Apart from:
Sophia did not marry & died 1941. James b. 1886- 1897. Edward 1891- 1891 These are all buried in the same grave with parents in Philips Park- details were from the headstone.
(they had another son who they also called Edward b.1893.)

Thanks. Yes, those are the correct Edwards.

My great grandmother Rebecca Higgins married William Henry Mason.

I do not known which Higgins family member that Peter is descended from. The relative that told me was told by her father that Peter was her cousin. She has no further information other than that unfortunately as she was quite small when told. We have lost touch with all Higgins family members. An elderly lady who lived in Ancoats & knew the family told my mum that there were still Higgins family members in the Manchester area possibly a Darrell or Darren.
