Not being funny but if you are just wanting to know if there are still Laffords in the area ( ie Staffs) BT phone book online shows there are.

It is not a very common name so there aren't that many, if you work forward from the details given on the 1901 for example , you might find some of them are related if you don't already know them of course :-)

Bear in mind, Adrian, that any females born as Lafford would not now have the surname if they married

And you can't assume that any of these people stayed in the area in which they were born.............
