Ann Malin married James Smith in 1846 at Napton on Hill, Warwickshire. She was born in 1822.

Has anyone this person on their tree - I would dearly love to know who her parents were. At one time I did think her mother was an Elizabeth but also thought it may have been a Hannah. Both names may have had me going down the wrong track:)

Ann and James had several children - Eli, Naomi, Ellen, Albert and Harriett. Eli and his wife Harriett Ainge came to NZ and he was my husband's great grandfather.

Would love to know more about his family in Warwickshire.

Thank you for reading this email

Her Father's name will be on her marriage certificate - suggest you buy it for confirmation.
Have you attempted to find her in 1841 census?
Have you also looked on IGI for possible birth?
Thanks

Added:
For ref. born Wolfhamcote, Warwickshire, according to 1861 census.

Could you untick the mark as answered, as I do not think we have found what you wanted?

Hello Everyone

I have tried to untick the MARKED AS ANSWERED area at the top left hand corner but am unable to untick it so that that post can continue. Any advice on how to do so or link my 2 threads (yes I did start another one and am sorry to confuse everyone by doing so:)

Thank you for all help received - I am a very inexperienced family history searcher and not so great on the computer either - my husband always says I click on things too quickly.

The marriage certificate might have an interesting invented name for the Father, always worth getting just to see..... (particularly if it is Mr Spencer)

I am sure you are correct Patchem. There must be a good reason that Ann was given Spencer as her second name. Can't wait for the marriage certificate. Will let you all know. Hopefully it will be here in about 5 or so days.

Good Afternoon Everyone

I have just received Ann Spencer MALIN and James SMITH's Marriage Certificate and it has James' father as John Smith - how difficult will that be to further my research!!:)

Unfortunately Ann has just a line through Father's name and profession so once again I have that mystery.

I am concluding that as the IGI entry stated ther mother was Elizabeth Malin she was not married.

The 1841 Census with Ann living with a William Malin aged 61 I am now guessing may have been her maternal grandfather.

This is all guesswork and so it looks like I have come up against a brickwall.

Thank you all anyway for your help.
Kind regards
