Find Living Relatives

Hi there,i am trying to find any records of a marriage or death of Kathleen Ada Speakman,she was born Kathleen Ada Watson in Edmonton in 1932,she went on to marry Albert Edward Speakman on the 31st March 1951. They produced Margaret Ann Speakman born 1951/Q3 and John F Speakman 1952/Q4 Albert Edward Speakman died 1963Q1 age 37. Prior to this apparently Kathleen Ada his wife had left him we do not know what happened to the bringing up of the children Margaret & John after this date. We are in vain trying to establish the death remarriage or any thing after this date of Kathleen Ada Watson (Speakman)...Any help would be great.

If you bought her BC it would give her exact d.o.b. If she has died prior to 2005/6 we may be able to find a record using that and her first names.

As she was with the Rowletts in 1955, could this be her. There are Rowlett/Watson children born before this.

EDIT - it says administration not probate, so does this mean there may be a will?

I can't see a death for Kathleen, so she may well still be alive but no sign of her under Rowlett on the ERs on 192.com

I am only just learning on this family.I had a son contact me and ask if i knew whether she re-married/passed away..this made me start looking on this side.

The Rowlett is interesting as that was her Grandmother's maiden name...now getting confused..did she marry a relative?? Think i will invest in marriage certificate to try unravel that one...

I haven't had contact with her other children from Speakman marriage i found two of them but still looking.

You're right Rose, I must have mis-typed the surname when I looked yesterday, a Frederick at the same address - possibly her son if it is the right Kathleen?

I was given a phone number for Margaret.She said her mum walked out when she was young,also found it was with her cousin.She carried on to have more children 3 or 5 she thinks.She last saw her in 1970.
Haven't found a marriage for Kathleen and Thomas Rowlett...and still not sure if she is still living..

Haven't managed to find a will..have looked on Ancestry for that..

You won’t find a copy of the marriage certificate on Ancestry or anywhere else as it’s too recent. Choccy had already posted the details you need to order it from GRO

The most recent Probate Calendar entries on Ancestry are for 1975. If she has died since then any entry won’t be shown.

From the references found, it would seem that Ada took the surname Rowlett before she was free to marry. she was perfectly entitled to use another name as long as it wasn’t for any illegal purpose. Both the death of her first husband and the marriage to the second took place in 1963. He died on 8 Feb 1963, she re-married in the Oct-Dec quarter of the same year.

At the time of Albert Edward Speakman’s death she was still his legal wife and was able to apply for the Letters of Administration of his Estate (meaning no Will) on that basis.

It would be worth purchasing either the MC or the Letters of Administration to see what the address was at the time. There are 4 Rowlett/Watson births from 1956-1963 in Edmonton, and one 1965 in Enfield. Without the exact dob, it may not be possible to order one of those to confirm the parents, but you could search for the names and see if you can contact them.
