Welcome to the boards, Catherine.

Do you know which one is his birth:
Births Dec 1924
Smith John H Robinson Cheltenham 6a 622
Smith John W Partridge Cheltenham 6a 584

Why do you believe that he may have been adopted, and could you say how you are related to him?

Thank-you

Catherine

His mother was one of the names you mention but he was a John Smith not Robinson or Partridge born 1924 BAECAUSE his mother died and his brothers went into a home where his sister use to visit them. I have his Birth cert and his mothers Wedding & Death cert also his Fathers

The names of Robinson or Partridge are John's mother's maiden name - it may help find more by knowing which is his birth, the middle initial may help. Liz

By implication, he would have been born John H Smith, mother's maiden name Robinson. The Dec quoted above implies births registered in Oct, Nov and Dec.

You may have to accept that he has passed away by now. If you have access to BMD indexes post c1965, the d.o.b can be used as a parameter to search deaths to 2005/6

Have you searched all trees on this site to see if anyone else has him listed?

Deaths Mar 1935 (>99%)
Smith Annie E 38 Cheltenham 6a 573

So John would have been 10 years old......which means that his forenames would hardly have been changed, even if adopted..

ErikaH Report 9 Aug 2013 23:01
