If he was looking for his birth family he would probably add his name to a tree here in his birth name as that would be the name you would have known him by.

It is more unusual that the birth mother would know his new name

Hi Penny and Reggie

Thanks for the suggestions. I haven't tried searching family trees but will give it a go. I doubt he's under his birth surname because after he was born he was never spoken about again in my family -but I'll try.

I've only just started looking so was hoping to avoid the £30 fee for adding myself to the Adoption Contact Register as I am now retired on a state pension (so £30 is a lot of money, these days.) I will probably end up doing that when I feel I can afford it but I do wonder whether he was ever told he was adopted. I do hope so.

Have you added yourself to the national adoption contact register?

Mark was born on 26th June 1966 and adopted when he was about 10 months old. His new parents' surname was Chappell or Church or similar and I believe that they did not change his Christian name, although they may have added more names.

I think that the agency handling the adoption was in Ashton-under-Lyne near Manchester but I have no idea where the adoptive parents lived at the time.

I am Mark's birth mother and would dearly love to know that he is OK. I would also like him to know that he has two half brothers and a half sister.

If you think you know him OR you are him, I would truly appreciate you contacting me through Genes Reunited.
