Also If that Janet Mary Bolton was a married lady, I cannot see any marriages that would fit in Wiltshire...of course she could of married elsewhere then moved to Swindon?

If she was in Brighton having a baby in 1968 maybe she was not added to the ER in Swindon?

Just because she said on the birth cert she lived in Swindon, doesn't mean to say she actually did

I'm waiting to hear back from the lady again but as yet no. But interestingly my dad's birth name was Mark ANTHONY Bolton clearly named after one of the occupants in the house

She can not match the above Bristol birth as the above lady would of been only eligible to vote after her 21st birthday which would have been 11.01.69 NOT October 1968 which is the Janet Mary Bolton registered at the Swindon address in 1968

This doesn't match the Rochford birth

If she was a single person it would match the Bristol birth

Because they stated Janet wasn't eligible to vote until October 1968 (meaning until she wasn't 21 until October 1968) the only Janet M Bolton to match the all of this was born in Rochford

How do you know she was born Rochford? seems a bit scattered unless of course father was in the forces?

After communications with Swindon Central Library we have established that the Janet Mary Bolton I'm looking for, was born in Rochford Essex in October 1947.
Her mothers maiden name was Nelson.
She lived in the Swindon address I have for her in 1968 with a Mary, Michael, Ivy & Anthony Bolton.
Could anybody recommend or just give some advice on how I could now go about continuing the search?

Unless you know further information, the mother could have been older than 25, so keep an open mind about dates.

I too would check the home address for family.
Relationships are not shown on electoral lists, but there might be enough clues through names to be able to work it out.
As you have an address, it would be a simple task to check ERs. They are listed by address not surname in the old lists.
Some librarians would check a known address for you. I have been lucky like that in the past, Once I could give address and family surname I was told other people eligible to vote who were also listed in that house.

We believe the Brighton address was that of a mother & baby unit and the Swindon address of 'the family home' they are over 2 hours apart.

I will be travelling to Swindon In the near future to see if I can trace anyone else around 1968 at that address and maybe that will give me some more clues.

This whole search seems much of a needle in a haystack situation, but I am very grateful to everyone who has took the time to respond both on this post & privately.

If there are 2 addresses, is one her 'normal' address and one the place where she gave birth?

It might be useful to track down the ER for both, and see if anyone with the same surname in living there. Google the address where she gave birth as that may be a 'Home'. The other address may list relatives.

Have you looked at old electoral rolls for those addresses?

They can be found at the library nearest to that address. If you're lucky, you might find more family members.

I know this is a complete long shot, but I am wondering if anyone can help or tell me I'm looking in the completely wrong direction, or perhaps where I could look.

My father was born & adopted in 1968, his birth mother was a lady called Janet Mary Bolton with her address' on his birth certificate of both the Brighton/Sussex area and Swindon/Wiltshire area but no date of birth or any named father. I have messaged anyone with a Janet Bolton in their family tree born between 1943-1952. But am still wondering what else I can find, he has applied for his adoption file but it currently can not be found.

Any reply to this would be great.
