My grandfather took 3 years off his age when he married my grandmother...that year of birth stuck with him throughout his life, maybe grandmother never knew either?? they died together so she couldn't be asked

It's not unusual for someone to lie about their age when marrying someone who is older ,especially if its the lady is older !

I have a copy of my Grandmothers marriage cert to Richard, Bridget was born 1920 and was 30 when she married him, Richards age on the cert is 29, so im assuming 1921 is his birth year,

Where do you get 1921 from?

There's only one birth showing on FreeBMD for a Richard L Trotter:

Hi Rose have followed your advice and nothing has come up, so she could still be alive, also checked out more for Richard Trotter, he was born in 1921 so that may rule out the info on the 1989 death as he was born 1923 and theres a difference in the spelling of Lawrence.

If you search on her first name and her date of birth on Ancestry, possible deaths will be listed.

It's a possibility Gwyn, this is something i've been trying to find out for years, and it gets very frustrating i seem to come to the same dead end every time :-(

Hi Patchem, i have a copy of her birth certificte, how/where do i look for her death from this?, sorry i know that sounds daft i'm not very good at this.

If you get her birth certificate you will have her exact date of birth, which can be used for looking for deaths.
If you get Richard's death certificate you can find who the informant was.

And a possible daughter from the Trotter marriage.

Hi Shirley, Bent was the surname of Bridgets first husband, Scott is the surname of my Grandfather but they never married and Trotter was the last known name for Bridget as they were married, and my mum doesn't have any info about Bridget because she left the family home when my mum was 6 and Bridget was never spoken about by my grandfather, and he's no longer alive.

She could well have passed after 2005/6. Is there any way of finding out if Richard Trotter and Bridget had children?

Where have you looked for the death records, and have you her exact date of birth?
Do you know who was the informant on the death certificate of Richard?
Are you in contact with any of her children?
