Have you looked for your mother's birth on freebmd?

What was her birth name?

Although, it's unlikely in the extreme that her father would be named. For that to happen, he'd have had to attend when the birth was registered, and I can't think he would have done so, in the circumstances

Hello Reggie,
thats very astute of you! The story is rather sad George was married to someone else and when my grandmother married 8 years later her husband adopted my mother so an original birth certficate is proving difficult to get hold of. My Grandmother passed away and my mother was killed in a car accident so i would dearky love to get in touch with other relatives. The only person who could shed any light is an elderly great aunt who refuses to speak about what was a family scandal at the time so any help that anyone could give would be much appreciated.

Can we assume that he didn't marry your grandmother?

I am looking for my grandfather (maternal) George Pilkington. he would have been living in or close to Birmingham between 1952 to 1955. George may have been his middle name. If you know anyone who this may be then please get in touch.
