I’m attempting to communicate with any blood relations of a Miss Dorothy Williams. She possibly worked as a barmaid in the 1940’s, probably in the Dingle/Toxteth area of Liverpool, when I guess she would have been about 17. I believe she married someone and had four children. It was also rumoured that she was killed by a bus/tram?

Try search trees to see if anyone has her in their tree,

I think you may have to establish more about her though. ie her birth year etc

1940,s is a ten year span !

You say you believe she married...........do you know who she married?

Yes I have tried that, assuming she was born about 1926/7, but I don't know where. I just have assumptions and rumours ...

No I am not, but I know someone who may be related to her.

If she was killed by a tram or bus it is likely that the accident would have been reported in the local newspaper.
It would be worth contacting the Liverpool Records Office.

Free bmd has about 40 births for Dorothy Williams between 1924 and 1926 in Lancashire, of which about 10 are in Liverpool itself.

Any idea how old when she was killed?

Thanks

If you were to contact Liverpool Archives, they could look up the ER entry for the address in 1939 & 1945 (no ER during WW2)
They will probably make a charge

The names of eligible residents aged 21 or over may give you further clues.

Thanks for that info, but I've already checked that out. I could not find any Williams listed in the 1939 ER at 34 Shelley Street, and cannot find this street in the 1946 and 1949 ER - I believe it may have been bombed during the war.
